UNFINISHED BUSINESS: <br />Temporary Road Closure <br />Approved authorization of the temporary road closure of "H" Street between 9ffi and <br />10`'' Streets from July 8, 2002 to August 16, 2002, in order to construct street <br />improvements in conjunction with the construction of Hampton Inn Project. (Item #14, <br />Agenda 06/18/02) <br />City Manager Parrish presented staff's recommendation for approval and requested the <br />addition of 10`" Street, Valley Blvd. and "G" Street, on conditional approval by the <br />City Engineer. Discussion followed by staff and members. <br />Motion/second by CM Ramos/CM Zamora to approve staff's recommendation to <br />include 10`' St., Valley Blvd. and "G" Street as requested by City Manager Parrish. <br />Unanimous Vote. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />The following citizens addressed the City Council: Harold Rank Jr., Charles Jackson <br />and Jimmy Barbacos. <br />MAYOR AND COUNCIL ITEMS: <br />Member Comments: <br />The following topics were addressed by the Members: Street Department, sidewalks, <br />Police Department, football team, community involvement, Tiger rescue, trash on <br />Agua Mansa Road, July 4, fireworks, Health Fair, Mayor Bennett's Birthday, Traffic <br />Committee, speed limit on Citrus Street, "Speed Bump" workshop, Peace Program, <br />Spanish speaking residents, T -Ball, clean up, Colton Youth Soccer, Lighting at Grant <br />School, extra patrols, Discover Colton Night, Nell Soto Birthday bash, Chef Judging <br />contest, Canine Unit, Senior Center, City of Colton birthday celebration, Sierra Vista <br />graduation, Sister City Program, Mayor Bennett memo, Mexican Consulate. <br />SISTER CITY PROGRAM: <br />Mayor Bennett presented for Council consideration and support of the Sister City <br />Program. On June 26, 2002, she met with a representative from the Mexican Consulate <br />to discuss a request from the Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico to be a Sister City. It is <br />not a financial obligation, but an agreement to share our cultures. This is an urgent item <br />because the Mayor and possibly the Governor of Zacatecas will be in town on July 5, <br />2002, and would like to formalize the Sister City Agreement with a ceremony. Staff is <br />tentatively making arrangements to proceed with the signing ceremony to be held on <br />July 5, 2002 at Fleming Park at 6:00 p.m. These plans can be canceled if Council <br />3 <br />
