Proclamation - CM Hernandez read and presented a proclamation to Family Services <br />Supervisor Susan Rodriguez in honor of her continued dedication and distinguished <br />service. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS: <br />CUA/Award of Contract/U.S. Filter Company <br />Water/Wastewater Director Eric Fraser presented an overview and requested approval of staff's <br />recommendation. <br />Discussion by Council and response from staff with motion/second by CM Ramos/Hernandez to <br />approve Resolution No. CUA -2003-01. Motion carried with CM DeLaRosa absent. <br />PUBLIC HEARING: <br />(2) Historic Landmark #49 — Benches at Cesar Chavez Park (Item #2, Agenda 9/3/02 and Item <br />#1, Agenda 11/19/02) <br />This was the time and place fixed to continue consideration of property located at 670 N. Colton <br />Avenue as Historical Landmark #49. <br />Mayor Bennett declared the Public Hearing "Open" <br />City Clerk Barrera said the Notice of Continuance regarding the Public Hearing was on file in the <br />City Clerk's Office and stated that no protests or objections were received. <br />Mayor declared the Public Hearing Open. <br />City Clerk Carolina P. Barrera presented for Council consideration and approval of staff's <br />recommendation. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT: <br />None <br />Motion/second by CM Chastain/Ramos to terminate Public Hearing. Motion carried with CM <br />DaLaRosa absent. <br />CM Mitchell stated at this time the City of Colton is not in a financial position to take care of this <br />issue and that the benches are not properly utilized in the current area that there in. He also <br />recommended that later, if the Council wants to designate the benches that they be moved to a <br />different area. <br />CM Hernandez understood the joint meeting with the Historic Preservation Commission was to <br />determine if the benches were in the best designated area. City Manager Parrish responded <br />that during the joint meeting the designation of the benches was discussed, however they did <br />discuss other issues as well. A date was set to bring this item back to Council and to fund this <br />project will take away from another CDBG project.
