I WHEREAS, a public hearing has been duly held by the City Council on August 3, 2021, <br />2 on the aforesaid recommendation of the Planning Commission. <br />3 NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />4 COLTON DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />5 <br />6 SECTION 1. Based on the entire record before the City Council and all written and oral <br />evidence presented, and the findings made in this Resolution, the City Council makes the <br />7 following findings for approval for the Designation of Historically Eligible Historic <br />8 Resource Structure consistent with Colton's Historic Resource Criteria 1, 3, 4, 7, and <br />9 11 when at least one of the Designation Criteria below in Title 15, Section 15.40.060 C <br />10 need to be met: <br />11 1. It has significant character, interest, or value as Part of the Development, heritage, <br />12 or cultural characteristics of the City, State of California, or the United States; <br />13 The subject property is significant for its association with the San Bernardino Valley's <br />14 early agricultural development, and with the re-establishment of the Agua Mansa <br />15 community following the destructive flood of 1862. The subject property appears eligible <br />under Local Criterion 1. <br />16 <br />17 2. It is the site of a significant historic event; <br />18 Research to date has not revealed that a singular significant historic event took place at the <br />19 Peter Peters House. Therefore, the subject property does not appear eligible under Local <br />20 Criterion 2. <br />21 3. It is strongly identified with a Person or Persons who significantly contributed to <br />22 the culture, history, or Development of the City; <br />23 The subject property was the original and longtime residence of significant local pioneer <br />24 Peter C. Peters. Due to its significant association with Peters, the subject property appears <br />25 eligible under Local Criterion 3 <br />26 4. It is one of the few remaining examples in the City possessing distinguishing <br />27 characteristics of an architectural type or specimen; <br />28 <br />2315206020V2617662.1 -2- <br />
