(5) Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD). The quantity of oxygen <br />(expressed in mg/1), required to biochemically oxidize <br />material in a wastewater sample over a five-day period. <br />(6) BOD. Biochemical Oxygen Demand (five day). See definition <br />under "Biochemical Oxygen Demand." <br />(7) Categorical Standards. The Federal Categorical Pretreatment <br />Standards specifying quantities or concentrations of <br />pollutants or pollutant properties which may be discharged or <br />introduced into the POTW by existing or new industrial Users <br />in specific industrial categories established as separate <br />regulations under the appropriate subpart of 40 CFR Chapter 1, <br />subchapter N, Parts 405-471, as it exists and as it may be <br />amended. <br />(8) CFR. Code of Federal Regulations. <br />(9) Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). The quantity of oxygen <br />(expressed in mg/1) required to chemically oxidize material in <br />a wastewater sample under specific conditions of oxidizing <br />agent, temperature, and time. <br />(10) <br />City. <br />The City <br />of <br />Colton or the City Council of <br />Colton. <br />(11) <br />Class <br />1 User. <br />An <br />Industrial User of the POTW <br />who (i) is <br />subject to Categorical Standards, (ii) has an average daily <br />discharge of 25,000 gallons or more or process wastewater <br />(excluding sanitary waste, unpolluted water, and boiler <br />blowdown discharges), (iii) has a discharge which made up 5% <br />or more of the average dry -weather hydraulic or organic <br />capacity of the Wastewater Treatment Facilities receiving the <br />RJN13576 3 <br />
