Without the imposition of interim development controls and the exception <br />process, properties in the City could quickly receive entitlements to establish freeway <br />oriented signs despite the fact that the City Council has determined that the City's Zoning <br />Code is in need of updating and has directed that a study be done to recommend new <br />standards and revised Zoning Code sections to address freeway oriented signs. <br />G. The City Council has directed that all studies be pursued as expeditiously as is <br />practicable, and is examining the possibility of retaining professional consultants to assist in <br />the study of revisions to the City's Zoning Code. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has recently received information from the public <br />indicating serious concern about the creation of visual blight within the City by the <br />proliferation of freeway oriented signs as defined in the Colton Municipal Code at Section <br />18.50.120. <br />FOLLOWS: <br />THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON DOES ORDAIN AS <br />SECTION 1.: Extension. <br />The City Council finds and determines that Ordinance No. 0-29-96 is hereby <br />extended for ten (10) months and fifteen (15) days. Ordinance No. 0-29-96 was adopted on <br />October 1, 1996 and the forty-five (45) day period is set to expire on November 5, 1996 and <br />accordingly, by this extension that period of time is extended for an additional ten (10) <br />months and fifteen (15) days until August 20, 1997 unless sooner terminated or further <br />extended by the City Council of the City of Colton. <br />SECTION 2: Report Issuance. <br />The City Council has on this date previously adopted as its own and issued the <br />
