The chart is organized as follows: <br />Column 1 -CLASSIFICATION --Each classification is shown by job <br />family, as previously recommended in the classification plan. <br />Column 2 -SURVEY NEW BASE SALARY --This column shows the new base <br />salary, adjusted so that new total compensation will match the <br />market total compensation. These are the figures provided to <br />you for the November 26 Council meeting. <br />Column 3 -INTERNAL ALIGNMENT --This column contains the recom- <br />mended internal a ignments, and is identical to the alignments <br />initially provided to you. <br />Column 4 -RECOMMENDED SALARY (E -STEP) --This column shows the new <br />recommended base salaries, and represents the market figures in <br />Column 2 as adjusted by the internal alignments in Column 3. <br />The figures are the top step for each classification; individual <br />salaries must still be established, based on their step. <br />Column 5 -ADJUSTMENT --The figures in this column are the adjust- <br />ments to the survey salaries, based on the internal alignments. <br />Figures are both positive and negative, that is, internal <br />alignment considerations cause some recommended salaries to , <br />increase, others to decrease. �✓ <br />With regard to the Recreation and Social Services Director positiorf, r <br />we have adjusted the recommended Total Compensation figure downward <br />to reflect Division Head responsibilities as compared to Department <br />Head, as indicated in the Internal Alignment note for the position. <br />Appendix 1 <br />
