Such expenditure must enhance furtherance of City or continuing educa- <br />tional goals. Requests for such reimbursement must be approved in <br />the Department Head and Personnel Officer. Employee -initiated educa- <br />tional or area development shall not be considered as time actually <br />worked for purposes of computing overtime and normally shall not occur <br />during regular work hours. <br />UNIFORMS <br />The City agrees to furnish all line crews six shirts and all substation <br />personnel three shirts and three pairs of pants to be worn at all times <br />during working hours. The uniforms shall be replaced during the year <br />for damage occurring in the line of duty, with approval of the Depart- <br />ment Head. Uniforms will not be worn while off work. <br />TRAINING <br />The City agrees that represented employees working out of class <br />shall be properly trained prior to out -of -class assignment. <br />RETIREMENT <br />The City will pay the employees' contribution of 7% to the P.E.R.S. <br />Retirement Program and provide retirement benefits as currently speci- <br />fied under the City's contract with the Public Employees Retirement <br />System. All such contributions shall be deposited in the Member's <br />Retirement Account. <br />SOCIAL SECURITY <br />In the event the City and its employees are required to participate <br />in the Federal Social Security program, the contribution designated <br />by law to be the responsibility of the employee shall be paid in <br />full by the employee and the City shall not be obligated to pay or <br />"pick up" any portion thereof. <br />Nothing herein shall prevent the Association from requesting the <br />City to meet and confer on the possible "pick-up" of the Employees' <br />contribution. Upon such request by the Association, the City agrees <br />to meet and confer with the Association. <br />MEDICARE <br />Employees hired by the City on or after April 1, 1986, shall be <br />required to pay the designated employee contribution to participate <br />in the MediCare Program and the City shall be under no obligation <br />to pay or "pick up" any such contributions. <br />7 <br />
