Such expenditure must enhance furtherance of City or continuing educa- tional goals. Requests for such reimbursement must be approved in the Department Head and Personnel Officer. Employee -initiated educa- tional or area development shall not be considered as time actually worked for purposes of computing overtime and normally shall not occur during regular work hours. UNIFORMS The City agrees to furnish all line crews six shirts and all substation personnel three shirts and three pairs of pants to be worn at all times during working hours. The uniforms shall be replaced during the year for damage occurring in the line of duty, with approval of the Depart- ment Head. Uniforms will not be worn while off work. TRAINING The City agrees that represented employees working out of class shall be properly trained prior to out -of -class assignment. RETIREMENT The City will pay the employees' contribution of 7% to the P.E.R.S. Retirement Program and provide retirement benefits as currently speci- fied under the City's contract with the Public Employees Retirement System. All such contributions shall be deposited in the Member's Retirement Account. SOCIAL SECURITY In the event the City and its employees are required to participate in the Federal Social Security program, the contribution designated by law to be the responsibility of the employee shall be paid in full by the employee and the City shall not be obligated to pay or "pick up" any portion thereof. Nothing herein shall prevent the Association from requesting the City to meet and confer on the possible "pick-up" of the Employees' contribution. Upon such request by the Association, the City agrees to meet and confer with the Association. MEDICARE Employees hired by the City on or after April 1, 1986, shall be required to pay the designated employee contribution to participate in the MediCare Program and the City shall be under no obligation to pay or "pick up" any such contributions. 7
