RESOLUTION NO. R-115-91 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, RESCINDING RESOLUTION <br />NO. R-33-87 AND MODIFYING OTHER RESOLUTIONS CURRENTLY <br />IN EFFECT WHICH ESTABLISH POST-RETIREMENT HEALTH INSURANCE <br />BENEFITS FOR ELECTED OFFICALS AND DEPARTMENT DIRECTORS <br />WHEREAS, City Councilmembers and Department Directors who <br />retire after many years of dedicated service deserve special benefits and <br />recognition. <br />NOW, therefore, in consideration of said service, the City <br />Council of the City of Colton does hereby resolve as follows: <br />Section 1. Upon retirement, the City shall continue to provide City -paid <br />health insurance for elected officals (Mayor, City Councilmember, City <br />Treasurer and City Clerk) having twelve (12) or more years of service as <br />an elected offical of the City of Colton. In instances where elected <br />officals are eligible for retirement health insurance pursuant to <br />Resolution No. 4598, such coverage shall include all legal dependents <br />covered at the time of retirement. For elected officals who are first <br />elected or appointed after January 1, 1987, such coverage shall include <br />the individual and a spouse, if the elected offical is married at the <br />time he/she leave office. <br />Section 2. Upon retirement, the City shall continue to provide City -paid <br />health insurance for City employees having twenty (20) years of service <br />as a City employee and/or elected offical and retiring as a Department <br />Director. In instances where Department Directors are eligible for <br />retirement health insurance pursuant to Resolution No. 4598, such <br />coverage shall include all legal dependents covered at the time of <br />retirement. For Department Directors who are appointed after January 1, <br />1987, such coverage shall include the individual and a spouse, if the <br />employee is married at the time he/she leaves City employment. <br />Section 3. The City shall continue to provide City -paid health insurance <br />to a surviving spouse of a deceased eligible elected offical or <br />Department Director, provided that such benefit was provided at the time <br />of retirement. <br />Section 4. "Health insurance" is defined as whichever plan(s) is (are) <br />available to the retired employee and/or spouse in accordance with the <br />terms of the agreement(s) in effect between the City and its health plan <br />provider(s), and the provisions of this reolution are subject to the <br />City's ability to obtain insurance for eligible retired elected officals, <br />Department Directors and their spouses. <br />Section 5.
