Section 3: Overtime <br />A. Overtime Pay <br />All Employees required to perform in excess of 40 hours in a <br />seven-day cycle shall receive compensation at the rate of time <br />and one-half his/her regular rate of pay; provided, however, <br />actual hours worked between the hours of 9:00 p.m. and 6:30 <br />a.m. shall be compensated at double the regular rate of pay. <br />In determining an employee's eligibility for overtime regular <br />rate, paid leaves of absences shall be included in the total <br />hours worked. <br />There shall be no pyramiding of overtime or other premiums. <br />Hours worked by an employee in any workday or workweek on <br />which premium rates have once been allowed shall not be used <br />again in any other overtime calculation other than computing <br />total actual hours worked. <br />Overtime shall be recorded and paid in minimum increments of <br />15 minutes. <br />Planned overtime shall be divided as equitably as possible <br />among available and qualified personnel and within each <br />classification. Management reserves the right to make the <br />final determination in all overtime scheduling. <br />A call -out and planned overtime procedure is attached as <br />Exhibit A. <br />B. Compensatory Time <br />In lieu of receiving overtime pay pursuant to Section A. <br />above, an employee may elect to accrue compensatory time off <br />at the applicable overtime rate. No employee shall accrue <br />more than 40 hours of such compensatory time. Should any <br />employee exceed 40 hours of accrued compensatory time, he/she <br />shall be paid for all overtime hours worked at the applicable <br />overtime rate. <br />An employee may use such compensatory time within a reasonable <br />period after making the request if the use of compensatory <br />time does not unduly disrupt the operations of the department. <br />C. Overtime Authorization <br />All overtime requests must have the authorization of a <br />supervisor prior to the commencement of such overtime work. <br />Where prior written authorization is not feasible, explicit <br />verbal authorization must be obtained. Calls for service <br />beyond the end of duty time are considered as authorized. An <br />3 <br />
