YOUTH INTERVENTION COUNSELOR Definition: CITY OF COLTON Provide counseling and tutorial services for high risk, pre - delinquent and delinquent youth; establish an educational and information program for parents; develop collaborative effort with schools and community organizations; and prepare appropriate documentation as required. Supervision Received and Exercised: Receives direct supervision from the Parks, Recreation and Human Services Director or designee. May exercise direct supervision over technical, para -professional staff, student interns, and volunteers. Examples of Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following. Provide youth and family counseling services for delinquent, high risk youth. Establish on -campus group counseling for identified youth in area schools. Develop and present on-going education and information classes for parents of children involved in the program - open to all parents, S.T.E.P. groups, and parenting education. Develop comprehensive resources and referral file and service network with schools and community based organizations. Prepare and properly document confidential case files, evaluate client needs, assess problems, establish goals and objectives, summarize family counseling sessions, recording the utilization of community resources and volunteer participation. Provide community outreach and training programs, present programs on issues associated with delinquency and delinquent youth community education such as community team meetings. May assist in the selection, training and supervision of other program staff and volunteers. May be required to work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends. Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
