YOUTH INTERVENTION COUNSELOR <br />Definition: <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />Provide counseling and tutorial services for high risk, pre - <br />delinquent and delinquent youth; establish an educational and <br />information program for parents; develop collaborative effort with <br />schools and community organizations; and prepare appropriate <br />documentation as required. <br />Supervision Received and Exercised: <br />Receives direct supervision from the Parks, Recreation and Human <br />Services Director or designee. <br />May exercise direct supervision over technical, para -professional <br />staff, student interns, and volunteers. <br />Examples of Duties: Duties include, but are not limited to, the <br />following. <br />Provide youth and family counseling services for delinquent, high <br />risk youth. <br />Establish on -campus group counseling for identified youth in area <br />schools. <br />Develop and present on-going education and information classes for <br />parents of children involved in the program - open to all parents, <br />S.T.E.P. groups, and parenting education. <br />Develop comprehensive resources and referral file and service <br />network with schools and community based organizations. <br />Prepare and properly document confidential case files, evaluate <br />client needs, assess problems, establish goals and objectives, <br />summarize family counseling sessions, recording the utilization of <br />community resources and volunteer participation. <br />Provide community outreach and training programs, present programs <br />on issues associated with delinquency and delinquent youth <br />community education such as community team meetings. <br />May assist in the selection, training and supervision of other <br />program staff and volunteers. <br />May be required to work flexible hours, evenings, and weekends. <br />Perform related duties and special projects as assigned. <br />
