STREET CREW LEADER <br />DEFINITION <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />Under general supervision, participates in the evaluation of street <br />maintenance needs and development of related work plans; exercises <br />lead supervision over assigned crews and coordinates activities <br />with other work crews and City departments; operates street <br />maintenance equipment and engages in work performed by crew <br />members; assists the Street Supervisor in selected programs and <br />acts as Supervisor in his/her absence; performs related duties as <br />required. <br />CLASS CHARACTERISTICS <br />The incumbent in this single position class is responsible for the <br />performance of skilled street maintenance work and the lead <br />supervision of assigned maintenance personnel. Due to the nature <br />of the work, the incumbent may be responsible for more than one <br />crew during a workday. The position is differentiated from other <br />maintenance positions having lead supervision by the larger number <br />of employees supervised and acting/ assisting role in relation to <br />the Street Supervisor. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br />Assists in the planning and scheduling of work projects. <br />Supervises and works with crews engaged in the construction, <br />patching, paving, sealing and general maintenance of streets, <br />sidewalks, storm drains, curbs and gutters and right-of-ways. <br />Determines work assignments and utilization of personnel, equipment <br />and materials in accordance with project requirements. <br />Obtains needed equipment, supplies and materials. <br />Makes field checks of proposed projects to assist in the <br />determination of materials, equipment and personnel needs. <br />May interact with contractors and representatives of other agencies <br />in carrying out work assignments. <br />Coordinates construction or maintenance work with other units and <br />City departments. <br />Reviews and may investigate/ respond to citizen complaints and <br />requests for street work. <br />Assists in the evaluation of service needs, equipment, work methods <br />and operations. <br />
