XII. UNIFORM MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE <br />The Police Chief and Fire Chief shall receive $52.50 per month <br />for uniform allowance. Such allowance shall be paid on the <br />last pay period in June. Such payment shall be for the prior <br />year and shall be prorated for employees not working the full <br />year. <br />XIII. RETIREMENT <br />The City will pay the employee's contribution of 7% (9% for <br />Fire and Police Chiefs) to the Public Employees' Retirement <br />System (PERS) and provide retirement benefits as currently <br />specified under the City's contract with PERS. All such <br />contributions shall be deposited in the members' retirement <br />account. Other benefits provided include: <br />1. 2% at age 50 formula for Fire and Police Chiefs; <br />2% at age 60 formula all other Executive employees <br />2. One year final compensation <br />3. Military buyback <br />4. Post -Retirement Survivor Allowance for Fire and <br />Police Chiefs <br />Employees may choose to have the 7% employee contribution (9% <br />for Fire and Police Chiefs) paid to the employee as salary in <br />the last year before retirement with the employee then being <br />responsible for paying their share of P.E.R.S. Employees may <br />likewise choose to have their sick leave and/or vacation time <br />accrued during their final year of employment converted to <br />salary. Both such actions shall be on a prospective basis <br />only in the form of a written request to the Finance <br />Department. This provision is based on the City obtaining <br />written confirmation from P.E.R.S. that these options are <br />still available to P.E.R.S. employees. <br />XIV. SOCIAL SECURITY <br />In the event the City and its employees are required to <br />participate in the Federal Social Security program, the <br />contribution designated by law to be the responsibility of the <br />employee shall be paid in full by the employee and the City <br />shall not be obligated to pay or "pick up" any portion <br />thereof. <br />XV. MEDICARE <br />Employees hired by the City on or after April 1, 1986, shall <br />be required to pay the designated employee contribution to <br />participate in the Medicare Program and the City shall be <br />under no obligation to pay or "pick-up" any such <br />contributions. <br />WP2:EXECBENF.WP 3 <br />
