1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 RESOLUTION R-26-93 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, AUTHORIZING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY PARAMEDIC AMBULANCE AND TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND FIRE CHIEF TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTION TO IMPLEMENT SUCH SERVICES BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, CALIFORNIA, AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the City Council of Colton has given careful consideration to authorizing the City's Fire Department to provide emergency paramedic ambulance and transportation services to patients with needs originating within the City limits; and WHEREAS, the City's Fire Department is fully staffed with qualified personnel to provide such emergency paramedic ambulance and transportation services in a professional, competent and efficient manner; and WHEREAS, the emergency paramedic ambulance and transportation services now provided by the County of San Bernardino pursuant to its Emergency Medical Services Plan is unreasonably expensive for the services provided and otherwise inadequate to meet the needs of the citizens of the City of Colton; and WHEREAS, the City of Colton is authorized to provide emergency paramedic ambulance and transportation services to patients with needs originating within the City limits pursuant to Government Code Sections 38794 and 54980, and pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 1797 gl 5eq.; and WHEREAS, prior to 1980, the City of Colton provide full ambulance service for patients with needs originating within its City limits and is entitled to continue and improve such necessary public services as necessary pursuant to Section 1797.201; and
