1 <br />2 <br />3 <br />4 <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 <br />9 <br />10 <br />11 <br />12 <br />13 <br />14 <br />15 <br />16 <br />17 <br />18 <br />19 <br />20 <br />21 <br />22 <br />23 <br />24 <br />25 <br />26 <br />27 <br />28 <br />RESOLUTION R-26-93 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON, AUTHORIZING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE <br />EMERGENCY PARAMEDIC AMBULANCE AND <br />TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER AND FIRE CHIEF TO TAKE NECESSARY ACTION TO <br />IMPLEMENT SUCH SERVICES <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLTON, <br />CALIFORNIA, AS FOLLOWS: <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of Colton has given careful consideration to authorizing <br />the City's Fire Department to provide emergency paramedic ambulance and transportation <br />services to patients with needs originating within the City limits; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's Fire Department is fully staffed with qualified personnel to <br />provide such emergency paramedic ambulance and transportation services in a professional, <br />competent and efficient manner; and <br />WHEREAS, the emergency paramedic ambulance and transportation services now <br />provided by the County of San Bernardino pursuant to its Emergency Medical Services Plan <br />is unreasonably expensive for the services provided and otherwise inadequate to meet the <br />needs of the citizens of the City of Colton; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton is authorized to provide emergency paramedic <br />ambulance and transportation services to patients with needs originating within the City <br />limits pursuant to Government Code Sections 38794 and 54980, and pursuant to Health and <br />Safety Code Section 1797 gl 5eq.; and <br />WHEREAS, prior to 1980, the City of Colton provide full ambulance service for <br />patients with needs originating within its City limits and is entitled to continue and improve <br />such necessary public services as necessary pursuant to Section 1797.201; and <br />
