R-60-93 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF COLTON RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO. R-91-91, <br />APPOINTING THE CITY ATTORNEY AND SETTING <br />COMPENSATION <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Sections 36595 and 36506 authorize <br />the City Council of the City of Colton (the "City") to adopt a <br />resolution appointing a City Attorney who shall serve at the <br />pleasure of the City Council on such terms as may be set and agreed <br />upon and to fix the compensation of the City Attorney; and <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Sections 41801 et seq. provide that <br />the City Attorney shall advise and represent City officials in all <br />legal matters and litigation pertaining to City business; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton is a general law city of the <br />State of California; and <br />WHEREAS, it is necessary for the efficient operation of the <br />affairs of the City that the City Council appoint and set the <br />compensation for a City Attorney, and that the City Attorney be <br />authorized to act as General Agency Counsel for the Redevelopment <br />Agency for the City of Colton (the "Agency") and to designate such <br />other attorneys as Deputy City Attorneys as may be necessary to <br />represent the City in legal matters and litigation pertaining to <br />City business; and <br />WHEREAS, previously, by Resolution No. R-91-91, the City <br />Council determined to appoint an Interim City Attorney; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council now finds it is necessary and <br />beneficial to rescind Resolution No. R-91-91 in order to provide <br />for legal representation of the City by the City Attorney; and <br />
