The City reserves the right to <br />require reasonable verification of the need for such leave. <br />Section 5: Industrial Inlury Leave/Insurance Premiums <br />The City will pay the insurance premiums for employees on <br />leave of absence without pay due to industrial injury. Payment of <br />insurance premiums will include health, dental, life and optical. <br />ARTICLE V: WORKING CONDITIONS <br />Section 1: Shift Change <br />Employees shall be given a minimum of four weeks advance <br />notice of a shift change, except in case of emergency. Department <br />heads shall consider the needs of the service and the employee in <br />making assignments. The City shall not change schedules for the <br />sole purpose of avoiding overtime. <br />Section 2: Emergency Meal Periods <br />Employees shall earn meals at fixed intervals during periods <br />of call -out overtime, and during an extension of the regular or <br />planned work day. <br />During call -out overtime, one paid forty-five minute meal <br />period and one meal compensation of $12.00 will be earned for each <br />four consecutive hours of paid overtime completed. <br />During extension of the regular work day, one paid forty-five <br />meal minute period and one meal compensation of $12.00 will be <br />earned after one and one-half consecutive hours of paid overtime <br />completed; thereafter, meals will be earned after completion of <br />each four consecutive hour intervals as described above. <br />Employees that work one and one-half consecutive hours or more <br />immediately prior to the beginning of a regular shift will earn a <br />forty-five minute paid meal period and a meal compensation of <br />$12.00. <br />Employees called back within one and one-half hours after the <br />end of their shift shall earn a forty-five minute paid meal period <br />and a meal compensation of $12.00. <br />Paid meal periods will not count as hours worked. <br />It is recognized that employees may not be able to leave an <br />emergency situation and that the final determination of this fact <br />shall be made by the supervisor in charge of the particular <br />activity.
