City of Colton <br />Assistant to the Executive Director (continued) <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of• <br />Public administration with particular reference to municipal <br />administration, including the basic principles applied in the <br />development and management of departments providing various <br />municipal services. <br />Research methods and techniques of report writing and <br />presentation. <br />General laws, ordinances and regulations underlying municipal <br />government. <br />Principles and practices of modern office management. <br />Principles and practices of administration, budgeting and <br />personnel management. <br />Ability to: <br />Analyze problems, identify solutions, project consequences of <br />proposed actions, and implement recommendations. <br />Analyze and interpret research and investigative findings, and <br />prepare accurate technical reports with recommendations. <br />Understand, interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations as <br />they relate to municipal government. <br />Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. <br />Work cooperativbly in an environment that is economically, <br />socially and ethnically pluralistic. <br />Establish and maintain effective working relationships with <br />those contacted in the course of work. <br />Experience and Education - Any combination of experience and <br />education that would likely provide the required knowledge and <br />abilities is qualifying. A typical way to acquire the <br />knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Experience• <br />Four years of administrative or analytical experience. <br />Education• <br />Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited <br />college or university with major course work in public or <br />business administration. <br />7 <br />
