CITY OF COLTON <br />SENIOR BUSINESS LICENSE AND COLLECTIONS OFFICER <br />DEFINITION <br />Performs a variety of complex duties in the collection of <br />delinquent City customer accounts, supervises and coordinates the <br />administration of City's Business License and Collection Division. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Receives general direction from the Community Development Director. <br />Exercises direct supervision over subordinate personnel. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, <br />the following <br />Collect delinquent public utility accounts and other miscellaneous <br />City accounts; review documentation and records to determine <br />feasibility of collection actions. <br />Investigate and analyze accounts and initiate suspension of <br />services and legal actions as necessary including the garnishment <br />of wages and other court actions. <br />Monitor franchise haulers by reviewing records and reports <br />submitted relating to the City for billing of Franchise Fees. <br />Prepare Small Claims cases including appropriate documentation; <br />represent the City in Small Claims Court. <br />Contact customers to follow-up on delinquent accounts; respond to <br />requests for information; explain City policies and procedures <br />related to the Business License Ordinances. <br />Administer the Business License Ordinance through public contact <br />and field investigation, such as audits, inspections, etc. <br />Administer the processing of Business License information on a <br />computer system; maintain appropriate records, files, reports, and <br />correspondence. <br />Develop and recommend new and revised procedures and policies <br />related to collections and business license activities. <br />Coordinate assigned activities with other business license staff, <br />as well as personnel in other City departments. <br />Assist in Department budget preparation by preparing budget <br />requests and justification. <br />Perform a variety of administrative support duties for the <br />Department Director. <br />-1- <br />
