R-124-95 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON, TO COMPLY WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />HEALTH AND SAFETY CODE SECTIONS 17958, 17958.5 AND <br />17958.7, RELATING TO THE ADOPTION OF THE 1994 UNIFORM <br />BUILDING CODE AND THE 1995 CALIFORNIA BUILDING CODE, <br />AND THE VARIOUS MODEL CODES AND STATE AMENDMENTS <br />REFERRED TO IN ORDINANCE NUMBER 0-19-95. <br />WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958 and <br />Government Code Section 50022 empowers the City to adopt by <br />reference various 1994 Uniform Model Codes, including the Uniform <br />Fire Code and Uniform Building Code; and <br />WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958.5 authorizes <br />the City to make amendments to said Uniform Building Code, and the <br />California Building Code, and the various Model Codes and State <br />Amendments referred to in Ordinance Number 0-19-95, on the basis of <br />local climatic, geological, or topographical conditions; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to amend provisions of the <br />California Building Code, 1995 edition, and the various Model Codes <br />and State Amendments referred to in Ordinance Number 0-19-95; and <br />WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 17958.7 requires <br />that before making any modifications or changes pursuant to Section <br />17958.5, the governing body of a city or county shall make an <br />expressed finding that such modifications or changes or needed; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is informed and finds that such <br />climatic, geological and topographical conditions include, but are not <br />limited to, the following conditions: <br />The area of the City of Colton receives relatively small amounts <br />of precipitation, and experiences very low humidity levels and <br />extremely high temperatures. These climatic conditions are <br />conducive to the spread of fire. For example, during the months <br />of June, July, August, and September, daily temperatures that <br />exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit are common. <br />
