R-26-95 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON APPROVING A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />WITH THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO FOR PREPARATION <br />OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GIS PROJECT <br />WHEREAS, the County of San Bernardino, through the Department) <br />of Economic and Community Development is developing the Economic <br />Development Geographic Information System (EDGIS) for the Agua <br />Mansa Enterprise Zone and the San Bernardino International Airport) <br />and Trade Center and surrounding project area; and, <br />WHEREAS, the economies of the Counties of San Bernardino ands, <br />Riverside have experienced a direct and significant adverse impact', <br />due to military base closures and downsizing of the defense' <br />industry, are now additionally threatened with impending base <br />realignment, and continue to experience unemployment higher than <br />in other portions of Southern California; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Agua Mansa Enterprise Zone and San Bernardino <br />International Airport and Trade Center are designated as regional <br />employment generators providing a basis for industrial job <br />development for surrounding communities and areas; and, <br />WHEREAS, the objectives of the EDGIS are to expand job supply <br />in the Inland Empire by providing quick access to existing <br />information on industrial land to prospective site users, thereby <br />facilitating business attraction, expansion and retention; and <br />WHEREAS, the EDGIS is intended to be a public/private effort <br />to create an interactive database and user-friendly query software <br />which provides quick access to detailed public information on <br />industrially zoned sites and facilities within the project area <br />
