R-82-00 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON ADOPTING THE CULTURAL RESOURCES <br />PRESERVATION ELEMENT OF THE CITY OF COLTON <br />GENERAL PLAN <br />WHEREAS, local governments are authorized by Government Code Section 65300 <br />et seq., to prepare, adopt and amend general plans; and <br />WHEREAS, Government Code Section 65303 allows for a general plan to include <br />additional elements which, in the judgment of the City Council, relate to the physical <br />development of the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed Cultural Resources Preservation Element (Element) of <br />the City of Colton General Plan ("General Plan") initiated and prepared by the City of <br />Colton to identify and protect the City's precious cultural resources, and in doing so, <br />preserve and enhance the quality of life for all of Colton's citizens, implements the overall <br />policies and goals of the General Plan and leaves the General Plan internally consistent; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed Element was sent to affected public entities for their <br />view and comment; and <br />WHEREAS, the Element was reviewed, studied, and found to comply with the <br />alifornia Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as more fully described below; and <br />WHEREAS, on June 14, 2000 and July 25, 2000, respectively, the Historic <br />reservation Committee and the Planning Commission of the City of Colton reviewed the <br />lement and jointly recommended the City Council adopt the Cultural Resources <br />reservation Element and incorporate the Element into the General Plan; and <br />WHEREAS, all other legal prerequisites to the adoption of this Resolution have <br />ccu rred . <br />VPUB\NGS\601089 <br />1 <br />
