City Engineer DRAFT CITY OF COLTON <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />• Serve as a resource for department personnel, City staff and other organizations; coordinate <br />pertinent information, resources and work teams necessary to support a positive and <br />productive environment. <br />• Attend and participate in professional, and community meetings as necessary; stay current on <br />issues relative to the field of Public Works and relative service delivery responsibilities; <br />respond to and resolve sensitive and complex community and organizational inquiries and <br />complaints. <br />• Perform other related duties as required. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, <br />bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also <br />requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports and <br />using a computer key board. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading <br />written reports and work related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Education and/or Experience: <br />Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills and <br />abilities necessary for a City Engineer. A typical way of obtaining the required <br />qualifications is registration as a professional Civil Engineer in the State of California, at <br />least five years of public works engineering experience and a bachelor's degree in public <br />administration, business administration, civil engineering or a related field. <br />License/Certificate: <br />Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license. <br />State of California Civil Engineer License <br />KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS: <br />Knowledge of: <br />Principles of civil engineering. <br />Principles and management practices as applied to municipal facilities, public services <br />and projects. <br />Principles and practices of office management, administration, budgeting, supervision, <br />training and public relations. <br />Technical, legal, financial and public relations problems involved in the conduct of the <br />municipal public facilities and engineering programs. <br />Common legal descriptions and procedures for the acquisition of real property. <br />Operations and standard operating procedures of a municipal Public Works program. <br />Principles and practices of municipal budget administration. <br />Principles and practices of program development and administration. <br />Modern office equipment including a computer and applicable software. <br />Proper English, spelling and grammar. <br />
