EXHIBIT A <br />(b) The additional compensation will be computed at the specified percentage of <br />the current base pay of the employee for each pay period. Such increases in <br />pay shall not affect an employee's step advancement in the base range. <br />(c) Requests for Special Assignment Compensation may be initiated by the City <br />or by an employee via their supervisor. <br />The City bears the responsibility for initiating the compensation request in a <br />timely manner and adhering to the compensation provisions defined in this article. <br />The employee's supervisor shall obtain review and approval of the request in <br />advance of the date the employee begins the assignment. <br />A special Assignment will only begin with the Manager of Human Resources <br />signed approval, written description f the assignment, agreement of the amount of <br />additional compensation, anticipated duration of assignment and signed <br />acceptance by the employee. <br />XIV. OPTICAL REIMBURSEMENT: The amount of optical reimbursement will be <br />calculated at the biannual rate of $280 for employees and $180 for eligible <br />dependents. In the event an employee or dependent elects laser eye surgery in <br />lieu of using the optical reimbursement for exams, eye glasses or contact lenses, <br />the employee may either bank unused optical reimbursement funds in anticipation <br />of future surgery, to be paid out upon receipt of invoice for completed surgery; or <br />may elect maximum reimbursement on a biannual basis until the total amount of <br />the laser surgery is reimbursed over several biannual reimbursement window <br />periods. <br />XV. UNIFORMS: Safety work boots/shoes will be provided by the City to those <br />employees for whom safety work boots/shoes are required, to determined by the <br />Department Head or Risk Manager. <br />XVI. PERS 4TH LEVEL SURVIVOR BENEFIT: The City will provide Ca1PERS 4th <br />Level Survivor benefits to all Mid -Manager Unit employees. This benefit will be <br />made available upon completion of City and Ca1PERS processing requirements <br />revising Ca1PERS Contract Amendment to include Section 21574 for <br />Miscellaneous Employees. <br />XVII. ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE: The City agrees to increase the amount of the <br />annual accrual of Administrative leave from 64 to 80 hours with the availability <br />of 40 hours pay in lieu of time off cash -out once per fiscal year. For those non- <br />exempt employees in the unit, the 40 hours of Vacation or Comp. Time shall be <br />available for cash -out. <br />XVIII. VACATION ACCRUAL: Language in Article IV, Section 1,B which refers to <br />employees who exceed the maximum accumulation of vacation hours will be <br />removed as it no longer applies. <br />
