ASSISTANT WATER UTILITIES MANAGER CITY OF COLTON <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />• Make recommendations to the Wastewater Utility Manager to address and resolve <br />identified problem areas. <br />• Attend and participate as directed in organizational and community meetings as <br />necessary; stay current with issues relative to the field of water reclamation, <br />wastewater collection, pretreatment programs and Stormwater issues. Respond to <br />community and organization inquiries and complaints. <br />• Attend meetings as directed with the State Water Resources Control Board, EPA <br />and regional regulatory groups. <br />• Serves as the Division head in the absence of the Wastewater Utility Manager. <br />• Performs other related duties as required. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, twisting, bending, <br />squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also <br />requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing <br />reports using a computer keyboard. The need to lift, carry and push tools. <br />Equipment and supplies weighing 50 pounds or more is also required. <br />Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports <br />and work related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and <br />counter service. <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Education and/or Experience: <br />Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, <br />skills and abilities necessary for an Assistant Wastewater Utility Manager. A <br />typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of <br />eight years of directly related experience in wastewater facilities including at least <br />six years of administrative experience with supervisory duties, two years of <br />administrative experience with NPDES Stormwater program and some directly <br />related college level course work is required. <br />License/Certificate: <br />Possession of a valid Class "C" California driver's license. <br />Possession of a valid Grade V Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators Certificate <br />issued by the State of California Water Resources Control Board. <br />KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES/SKILLS: <br />Knowledge of. - <br />Principals and practices of wastewater treatment and disposal including plant <br />operations as related to primary, secondary and tertiary treatment and biosolids <br />management and disposal. <br />Wastewater facilities reporting, sampling and testing requirements as set by <br />Federal, State, County and City regulations. <br />Laws and Ordinances including federal EPA and State standards. <br />
