1 15.06.070 Section 903 is amended—Fire protection systems. 2 3 Section 903.2 amended. Section 903.2 of the California Building Code is 4 hereby amended to read as follows: 5 6 903.2 Where required. Approved automatic sprinkler systems in new buildings 7 or structures shall be provided in locations described in this section regardless of fire resistive separation walls. In all existing structures and occupancies not 8 equipped with an automatic sprinkler system,the following requirements shall 9 apply: 10 11 1. For existing buildings smaller than 5,000 square feet in gross floor area, when an addition causes the structure to exceed 5,000 square feet and such 12 addition is equal to or greater than 50% of the existing square footage, the entire 13 structure shall be provided with an automatic sprinkler system. 14 15 2. For existing buildings larger than 5,000 square feet in gross floor area, 16 when an addition is equal to or greater than 10% of the existing square footage, the entire structure shall be provided with an automatic sprinkler system. 17 18 3. For existing buildings larger than 5,000 square feet in gross floor area, 19 when extensive renovation or remodeling is done to more than 50% of the gross 20 floor area, and when a change of use that, in the opinion of the fire code official using the guidance of this Code, increases the likelihood of, or increases the 21 danger to occupants in a fire incident, the entire area shall be provided with an 22 automatic sprinkler system. 23 24 15.06.080 Section 903.2.1 amended. Section 903.2.1 of the California Building Code is 25 hereby amended to read as follows: 26 15.06.125 Section 903.2.2 amended. Section 903.2.2 of the California Building Code is hereby amended by adding the following: 27 28 15.06.165 Section 903.2.10.1 amended.
