Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services <br />Subject: Request Recruitment and Ratification of Employee Appointment to <br />The Full-time Position of Maintenance Worker I in the Parks Division <br />Of the Parks, Recreation & Family Services Department <br />Date: February 26, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />There is a need for one (1) Maintenance Worker I position in the Landscape Lighting & Maintenance <br />District Section of the Parks Division. The salary range is $1992-2422. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />In March of 2000, the City Council approved the hiring of four (4) Maintenance Worker I positions for the <br />City's Landscape Lighting & Maintenance District. Due to the fact that several areas have recently been <br />added to the District's scope of work and because other areas are due on line in the near future, it is <br />necessary to conduct a recruitment. Recruitment for this position will be conducted and an eligibility list <br />will be established upon Council approval. The candidate chosen will meet the education and experience <br />requirements as specified in the job description. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />An appropriation increase in the amount of $9,000 is required. Funding for the position in the fiscal year <br />2000/2001 budget will be made available through use of fund reserves. Accounts No. 702-6200-6210- <br />1010 (salary) and 702-6200-6210-1100, (salary related benefits) will be utilized. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: <br />An additional position is key to ensuring that the City of Colton and Landscape Lighting Maintenance <br />District areas are properly maintained and to provide the continued services that the community has come <br />to expect. By providing preventative maintenance regularly, all areas in the City will be more aesthetically <br />pleasing to citizens and visitors alike. <br />LEGAL REVIEW: HR Review <br />1ty Attorney <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the employee <br />appointment to the full-time position of Maintenance Worker I and approve the attached budget resolution <br />amending the LLMD FY 2000 - 2001 budget. <br />Item #10, <br />
