1. Adopt the Ordinance adopting, by reference, the California Building Standards
Code.
2. Take no action.
i FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None. This Ordinance is exempt from the requirements of the California Environmental
Quality Act (Pub. Resources Code, 21000 et seg.) ("CEQA") because pursuant to State
CEQA Guidelines ("Guidelines") sections 15061(b)(3), it can be seen with certainty that
there is no possibility that this Ordinance will have a significant adverse effect on the
environment, since it adopts updated standards for building and safety and fire protection
standards which the City had previously adopted. City staff will file a Notice of Exemption
with the San Bernardino County Clerk within five (5) days following the adoption of this
Ordinance.
RECOMMENDATION:
1. Staff recommends that the City Council adopt Ordinance adopting, by reference,
and making certain amendments to the 2001 Edition of the California Building
Standards Code, which incorporates the California Building Code, the California
Mechanical Code, the California Plumbing Code, and the California Electrical Code,
and adopting other model codes.
2. Staff recommends that the City Council continue the public hearing on Ordinance
adopting, by reference, the 2001 Edition of the California Fire Code to November 5,
2002.
Report Prepared By: Dean Derleth, City Attorney
Attachments: Proposed Ordinance
