Ms. Amanda Rhinehart
City of Colton
Bridge Retrofit Support
February 2, 2006
Page 4of4
This would make the budget allowance an additional $100,000
The latter two bridges are expected to be more costly to update because seismic retrofit
criteria has changed since the time that design of these bridges was completed. Therefore,
more effort will be required.
For all bridges except 54CO100 and 54C0101, TYLI is aware that the Engineers of Record are
still with their respective firms (Willdan Associates, Athalye Consulting Engineers, and LAN
Engineering).
However, for the remaining two bridges, the situation is less certain. No plans were
included in the information provided to us by the City. However, other documents we
reviewed suggest that the retrofit was designed by Sverdrup Corporation and Manna
Consultants. Sverdrup has since been absorbed by Jacobs Engineering, and we are uncertain
of the status of Manna. No conclusions can be drawn at this time, but it is important to be
aware of the potential complications.
Thank you for the opportunity to assist the City with this important project. Should you
have any questions, feel free to contact me or David Griffith.
Sincerely,
T.Y. Lin International
Gary AnWhucci, PE
Vice President
TYLININTERNATIONALI
