The contract award to Brithinee Electric <br />($67,194.50) and Layne Christensen ($68,084) for the emergency repairs will not exceed one <br />hundred thirty-five thousand two hundred seventy-nine dollars ($135,279). <br />The City's purchasing regulations also require that, for projects of more than twenty-five thousand <br />dollars, a report on the emergency and work performed must be provided at the next regular City <br />Council meeting. In compliance with this requirement, this report is submitted to the City Council. <br />Additionally, the City's purchasing regulations require that the City Council must determine, by a <br />four-fifths vote, that there is a need to continue the action without the benefit of informal or formal <br />competitive bidding, in accordance with California Public Contract Code sections 22035 and <br />22050 QLid3 In compliance with the requirement. City staff respectfully requests that the City <br />Council approve the award of contracts to Brithinee Electric and Layne Christensen for the <br />emergency repair work and dispense with competitive bidding procedures, as provided in Colton <br />Municipal Code Chapter 3.08.
