CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />NCIL MEETING UF <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Members <br />FROM: Bill Smith, Community Services Director <br />SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Grant in the <br />Amount of $15,000 for the Library Division of the Community <br />Services Department <br />DATE: <br />July 24, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has awarded the Colton Public Library a Public Access <br />Computer Hardware Upgrade Grant in the amount of $15,000 for the current fiscal year. This <br />funding may be used for replacement and/or upgrade of public access computers at public <br />facilities. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />This funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Public Access Computer Hardware <br />Upgrade Grant will be used to replace five (5) public access computers at the Main Library and <br />five (5) computers at the Luque Branch Library. These computers were originally provided <br />through grant funds, also from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 1999. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />There is no net general fund impact from this grant receipt.
