Cassel, Economic Development Director <br />SUBJECT: Announcement and Ratification of Sign Guidelines R <br />Committee <br />DATE: August 24, 2006 <br />BACKGROUND <br />On August 22, 2006, the City Council and Planning Commission held a joint workshop to <br />discuss the City's Sign Ordinance. Both bodies approved the configuration of a nine (9) <br />member Committee that will be charged with reviewing the key issues identified in the workshop <br />and designated their respective representatives. Staff was directed to identify the balance of <br />the committee members, drawing from members of the Economic Development Strategic <br />Planning Advisory Committee (EDSPAC). The following members represent the make-up of the <br />Sign Guidelines Review Committee: <br />Councilmembers (3) <br />❖ Deirdre Bennett, Richard Delarosa and Isaac Suchil <br />Plannin_g Commissioners (3) <br />❖ Tony Vilches, Jose Perez, III and Tom Archulteta <br />Chamber of Commerce Executive Director <br />❖ Eufemia Reyes <br />EDSPAC Members (2) <br />❖ Larry Lord and Dan Melzer <br />Sign Company Representative (Adiunct) <br />The Committee's first meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on September, 11, 2006 at the Gonzales <br />Community Center, at which time the schedule and frequency of meetings will be determined. <br />The meetings will be subject to the Brown Act. Agendas and minutes will be forwarded to the <br />City Council and Planning Commission. Community Development, Economic Development and <br />Code Enforcement staff will serve as advisory members to the Committee. Mark Brodeur, <br />
