CITY OF COLTON For the City Council Meeting of September 5, 2006 TO: Honorable Mayor and Councilmembers FROM: Candace E. Cassel, Economic Development Director SUBJECT: Announcement and Ratification of Sign Guidelines R Committee DATE: August 24, 2006 BACKGROUND On August 22, 2006, the City Council and Planning Commission held a joint workshop to discuss the City's Sign Ordinance. Both bodies approved the configuration of a nine (9) member Committee that will be charged with reviewing the key issues identified in the workshop and designated their respective representatives. Staff was directed to identify the balance of the committee members, drawing from members of the Economic Development Strategic Planning Advisory Committee (EDSPAC). The following members represent the make-up of the Sign Guidelines Review Committee: Councilmembers (3) ❖ Deirdre Bennett, Richard Delarosa and Isaac Suchil Plannin_g Commissioners (3) ❖ Tony Vilches, Jose Perez, III and Tom Archulteta Chamber of Commerce Executive Director ❖ Eufemia Reyes EDSPAC Members (2) ❖ Larry Lord and Dan Melzer Sign Company Representative (Adiunct) The Committee's first meeting will be held at 6:00 pm on September, 11, 2006 at the Gonzales Community Center, at which time the schedule and frequency of meetings will be determined. The meetings will be subject to the Brown Act. Agendas and minutes will be forwarded to the City Council and Planning Commission. Community Development, Economic Development and Code Enforcement staff will serve as advisory members to the Committee. Mark Brodeur,
