O-03-25. <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action: <br /> <br />Waive Full Reading, Read by Title Only, and pass the first reading for Preferential Parking Code <br />Ordinance, Ordinance No. O-03-25. An Ordinance of the City Council of the City of Colton, <br />California, Amending Chapter 10.44 of the Colton Municipal Code Regarding Preferential <br />Parking and Making Findings Under CEQA. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City of Colton (“City”) adopted an Ordinance O-12-05 introducing a “Preferential Parking <br />Program” on August 2, 2005. The current ordinance, codified in Colton Municipal Code <br />Chapter 10.44, outlines the process in which parking permit zone/districts are established. <br /> <br />To date, two preferential parking districts/zones have been established. In 2005, the “Louise <br />Street” zone was established and is located at the 800 and 900 blocks of Louise Street and the <br />1800 block of N. Alston Avenue. In 2015, the “F Street” zone was established and is located on <br />the southerly segment of F Street from N. La Cadena Drive to 9th Street. Since 2015, the parking <br />permit program has not been used to establish any additional parking permit zones. <br /> <br />In August of 2024, the Police Department received an inquiry from a citizen about establishing a <br />1 <br />Packet Pg. 7
