City Attorney Reports/Reportable Action: City Attorney Campos announced that the City Council met in Closed Session and discussed Items 1, no direction was given and there is no reportable action on this item. City attorney Campos announced that he had a report out from a Closed Session from a previous City Council meeting that has now settled. On July 15, 2025, in the case of Jorge Luis Yanez Sanchez v. Miguel Angel Gonzalez and the City of Colton, we received direction to settle the lawsuit for the amount of $265,000. The case has been settled. Open Session 6:00 P.M. Invocation: Pastor Pete Tasaka - The Vineyard Church Flag Salute: MPT David Toro Roll Call: Council Members Present Councilmembers present were MPT Toro, CM Chastain, CM Gonzalez, CM Echevarria and Mayor Navarro. Also present was City Clerk Isaac T. Suchil; City Treasurer Henry M. Razo was absent. Staff Present William R. Smith, City Manager and Carlos Campos, City Attorney. Ceremonial Matters • Presentation - San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District 2025 DMI Check Presentation. President T. Milford Harrison, Vice President Gil J. Botello, and CEO GM Heather Dyer from the San Bemadino Valley Municipal Water District, presented a check in the amount of $282,159 to the City of Colton for their water conservation efforts. • Recognition - 2025 National Latina Business of the Year Award CM Echevarria recognized Veronica Ceja and presented her with a recognition certificate for her accomplishments in leading her business "Curley's Character LLC. Veronica Ceja received the recognition and expressed her appreciation for the recognition. • Service Dog Retirement/Introduction by Police Chief Vega Police Chief Vega introduced and recognized K-9 REX for his 8 years of service to the City of Colton.
