City Attorney Reports/Reportable Action: <br />City Attorney Campos announced that the City Council met in Closed Session and discussed Items 1, no <br />direction was given and there is no reportable action on this item. <br />City attorney Campos announced that he had a report out from a Closed Session from a previous City <br />Council meeting that has now settled. On July 15, 2025, in the case of Jorge Luis Yanez Sanchez v. Miguel <br />Angel Gonzalez and the City of Colton, we received direction to settle the lawsuit for the amount of <br />$265,000. The case has been settled. <br />Open Session <br />6:00 P.M. <br />Open Session Called to Order: <br />By Mayor Frank J. Navarro at 6:01 P.M. <br />Invocation: <br />Pastor Pete Tasaka - The Vineyard Church <br />Flag Salute: <br />MPT David Toro <br />Roll Call: <br />Council Members Present <br />Councilmembers present were MPT Toro, CM Chastain, CM Gonzalez, CM Echevarria and <br />Mayor Navarro. <br />Also present was City Clerk Isaac T. Suchil; City Treasurer Henry M. Razo was absent. <br />Staff Present <br />William R. Smith, City Manager and Carlos Campos, City Attorney. <br />Ceremonial Matters <br />• Presentation - San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District 2025 DMI Check Presentation. <br />President T. Milford Harrison, Vice President Gil J. Botello, and CEO GM Heather Dyer from the <br />San Bemadino Valley Municipal Water District, presented a check in the amount of $282,159 to the <br />City of Colton for their water conservation efforts. <br />• Recognition - 2025 National Latina Business of the Year Award <br />CM Echevarria recognized Veronica Ceja and presented her with a recognition certificate for her <br />accomplishments in leading her business "Curley's Character LLC. Veronica Ceja received the <br />recognition and expressed her appreciation for the recognition. <br />• Service Dog Retirement/Introduction by Police Chief Vega <br />Police Chief Vega introduced and recognized K-9 REX for his 8 years of service to the City of <br />Colton. <br />
