1.1.4 The work to be performed shall be located throughout the City and confined to <br />the pipe sizes listed in Attachment A. Drawings and Return Plans listed are <br />available for viewing during regular business hours (M -Th, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM) <br />at: <br />Water & Wastewater Administration, located at: <br />160 South 10th St. <br />Colton, CA 92324 <br />2.0 General Sewer Cleaning Requirements <br />2.1.1 Intent: The intent of sewer line cleaning is to remove foreign materials from the <br />sewer line sections such at that a reduction in grit depth of 5% or less of the <br />sewer diameter is accomplished, as measured throughout the sewer section. <br />2.1.2 Sewer Cleaning: The designated sewer line sections and appurtenant structures <br />shall be cleaned using hydraulically propelled vactors, high velocity jet, or <br />mechanically powered equipment or manual cleaning methods. The equipment <br />and method(s) selected shall be based on the conditions of the lines observed <br />during the Contractor's site visit. <br />2.1.3 Cleaning Precautions: Under no circumstances will sewer cleaning operations be <br />allowed during rain events. During sewer cleaning operations, satisfactory <br />precautions shall be taken in the use of sewer cleaning equipment. When <br />hydraulically propelled cleaning tools or tools which retard the flow in the sewer <br />lie are used, precautions shall be taken to insure that the water pressure created <br />does not damage or cause flooding of public or private property, or private lateral <br />connections being served by the sewer. <br />2.1.4 Material Removal: All sludge, dirt, sand, bricks, rocks, concrete, grease, roots, <br />paper, cans, bottles, plastic and other solid (including manhole covers and steel <br />plates) or semisolid material resulting from cleaning operations hall be removed <br />at the downstream manhole of the section being cleaned. Flushing material from <br />manhole section to manholes section, which could result in line blockages, or <br />accumulations of sand in wet wells, shall not be permitted. <br />UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES is the Contractor allowed to store debris on-site <br />overnight. All debris must be drained free of liquids prior to being transported off- <br />site. <br />2.2.1 Sewer Cleaning and Debris Removal Equipment: The Contractor may elect to <br />use any of the following sewer cleaning machines and equipment individually or <br />in combination, to accomplish the project tasks. The Successful Contractor may <br />elect to use other machines and equipment not listed herein, provided that the <br />use of such equipment does not cause pipe damage and/or private and public <br />property flooding. Notification and justification of alternate equipment selection <br />must be provided to the City representative prior to using sewer cleaning and <br />debris removal equipment not listed herein. <br />RVPUB\NGS\529338 13 <br />
