3.1.3 All solids or semisolids resulting from sewer cleaning operations shall be removed <br />from the site daily and disposed of at the Water Department's grit screenings mixing <br />area. After dumping, the Contractor will be responsible for separating the trash -type <br />debris from the grit/sludge/slit materials. <br />4.0 Health and Safety <br />4.1 The Contractor shall be responsible for ensuring that personnel are properly trained <br />in workplace safety rules as provided by the Occupational Health and Safety <br />Administration (OSHA) and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and <br />Health (NIOSH). <br />The Contractor shall submit a Health and Safety Plan (HASP) which conforms with <br />all applicable OSHA and NIOSH regulatory requirements, in particular OSHA <br />1910.146 requirements for confined space entry. <br />The HASP shall be prepared by a certified industrial hygienist (CIH) and may be <br />signed by the CIH or a senior or corporate official attesting that the HASP meets all <br />applicable OSHA and NIOSH requirements for the performance of the work. The <br />name of the CIH must be clearly noted on the HASP. <br />4.2 The Contractor shall include traffic control provisions as part of the HASP. Traffic <br />control shall be provided in a manner which ensures the safety and protection of <br />workers and the general public. A copy of the HASP must be kept on site at all <br />times during the performance for the work. <br />4.4 The Contractor may need to comply with additional operational, and health and <br />safety guidelines required by industrial and commercial private property owners. <br />The Contractor is responsible for coordinating with said property owners to <br />determine facility operational, and health and safety requirements. <br />RVPUB\NGS\529338 16 <br />
