Nameplates identifying (and copy limited to) the address of the building, property, or <br />tenant to a maximum of one square foot per sign. Nameplates may only be lit by either an <br />indirect light (e.g. porch light) source, low -wattage spotlight without glare to the adjoining <br />property, or internal light source with opaque (non -transparent) background. <br />R. Political signs complying with the following regulations: <br />1. Individual political signs shall not exceed thirty-two square feet in total area. <br />2. Political signs shall not be placed sooner than one hundred days prior to the date of <br />the election to which such sign relates. Political signs originally placed for a primary <br />election may remain in place if such signs also relate to the next general election. <br />3. All political signs shall be removed not later than ten days following the date of the <br />election to which such sign relates. Political signs existing on property longer than <br />ten days following the election to which such sign relates shall be deemed abandoned <br />and a nuisance and shall be abated pursuant to Title 8 of this code. <br />4. No political sign shall exceed an overall height of twelve feet from the finished grade. <br />5. No political sign shall be placed in a manner that obstructs visibility of pedestrian or <br />vehicular traffic or that poses a public safety or health hazard; such signs are deemed <br />to be public nuisances and shall be removed in accordance with Title 8 of this code. <br />6. No political sign shall be placed or fixed to any publicly owned tree, fence, or utility <br />pole within the public right-of-way or otherwise posted on any public property. <br />Placement of such political signs shall be deemed a public nuisance pursuant to <br />California Government Code, Section 38773.5 and shall be subject to summary <br />abatement. (Ord. 0-03-02 § 3 (part), 2002) <br />18.50.070 Prohibited Signs <br />It shall be unlawful to erect, and no permit shall be issued, for any of the following signs: <br />A. Any sign not specifically in accordance with the provisions of this chapter; <br />B. Signs painted or mounted on roofs or placed above the roof line (except for mansard <br />roofs); <br />C. Animated signs and flashing signs, with the exception of time and temperature signs and <br />electronic reader signs; <br />D. Pennants, banners, balloons or other paraphernalia composed of paper, cloth or other <br />flexible material, unless otherwise permitted; <br />E. Signs which rotate, move, reflect, blink or incorporate elements that do so, except time <br />and temperature signs and electronic reader signs; <br />F. Off -premise advertising displays (billboards), except as otherwise provided; <br />G. Signs placed on the public right-of-way or affixed to an element or structure on the public <br />right-of-way, except where required by a governmental agency or permitted as part of <br />kiosk sign program; <br />-15- <br />
