Asst./Council Office Manager Adelfa Flores SUBJECT: Re -Appointment -- League Voting Delegate & Alternate DATE: July 30, 2008 BACKGROUND: ITEM #1 At the City Council Meeting of July 15, 2008, the Council appointed Mayor Kelly Chastain to serve as the voting delegate and Council Members Vincent Yzaguirre and Isaac Suchil as the two alternates. Mayor Chastain, Mayor Pro Tem Mitchell and Council Members Suchil and Yzaguirre are registered to attend the full conference. As a result of a scheduling conflict Mayor Chastain regrets that she cannot accept the position of Voting Delegate. Thus, Mayor must decline this appointment and recommends Council appoint another Council Member as the Voting Delegate. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The Annual League Conference will be held in Long Beach, California, September 24 -27, 2008. The names of the final three delegates will be re -submitted to the League on the attached form by September 5, 2008. FINANCIAL IMPACT: No financial impact, other than the costs associated with the council members attending conference. Travel funds were approved for FY 2008-2009 and are available in the Travel & Meetings Account # 100-6000-6000-2280. ENVIRONMENTAL: Not Applicable. CONFLICT OF INTEREST: Not Applicable. RECOMMENDATION: Appoint a Council Member to serve as the Voting Delegate to represent the City at the League's Annual Conference.
