ITEM #14 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF OCTOBER 21, 2008 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZE AWARD OF A CONSTRUCTION AGREEMENT TO <br />IMPERIAL PAVING CO., INC., FOR THE AGUA MANSA <br />WIDENING PROJECT PHASE I, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,299,704. <br />DATE: OCTOBER 14, 2008 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Agua Mansa Road Widening and Re -alignment Project Phase I is part of the Fiscal Year <br />2008/2009 CIP (Capital Improvement Program). The improvements for this phase of the Agua <br />Mansa Road Widening and Re -alignment Project will commence along Agua Mansa Road from the <br />San Bernardino Flood Control Rialto Channel to Riverside Avenue. The improvements for this <br />phase include re -alignment and widening the road carriageway. The project will install 6" thick <br />aggregate base, 4" thick asphalt (2" thick rubberized over 2" thick conventional asphalt), curb, <br />gutter, striping and signage along this portion of Agua Mansa Road. A fourteen -foot wide painted <br />median will be provided to better control traffic's left turn movement to the RIX Facility and other <br />businesses located in this area. <br />The Plans, Specifications and Construction Estimates for this project have been completed by <br />Engineering Resources of Southern California. This project advertised in local papers and trade <br />journals. The Engineer's Estimate for the Project is $1,566,864.09. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />As advertised the bid opening for the Agua Mansa Road Widening Phase I Project took place on <br />Thursday, October 9, 2008.
