ITEM #5 CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF DECEMBER 1, 2009 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM: MARITZA TAPIA, INTERIM PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR SUBJECT: APPROVE RESOLUTION INCREASING THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM BUDGET IN THE AMOUNT OF $70,000 FOR GLENWOOD/RECHE CANYON DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT AND CONSTRUCTION OF A STORM DRAIN AT LARK STREET PROJECT; AUTHORIZE THE AWARD OF CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT FOR THE 2009- 2010 DRAINAGE AND STREET IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TO THE LOWEST RESPONSIBLE BIDDER, SJ GRIGOLLA CONSTRUCTION CO. INC., IN THE AMOUNT OF $125,875.00. DATE: November 5, 2009 BACKGROUND: The Glenwood/Reche Canyon Drainage Improvement and The Sperry and I-10 Drainage Improvement Project are part of the CIP (Capital Improvement Program) projects scheduled for construction during Fiscal Year 2009-2010. The scope of the projects includes installation of: asphalt, curb, gutter, and catch basins. DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Formal bidding for the 2009-2010 Drainage and Street Improvement Project was advertised in local papers and trade journals starting on September 5, 2009. The bid opening was conducted on October 6, 2009 and staff received formal proposals from eight (8) firms.
