ITEM NO. 11 <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 16, 2010 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUN IL <br />FROM: ROD FOSTER, CITY MANAGER <br />PREPARED BY: VIJAY SINHA; PUBLIC WORKS A#D, TIL SERVICES <br />DIRECTOR �/ J� <br />SUBJECT: AGUA MANSA ROAD WIDENING PROJECT -PHASE I <br />RECOMMENDED ACTION <br />It is recommended that the City Council authorize execution of Change Order No. 1 and <br />recordation of the Notice of Completion for the Agua Mansa Road Widening Project - Phase I. <br />GOAL STATEMENT <br />The proposed action will support the City's goal to improve traffic circulation and street <br />infrastructure. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The Agua Mansa Road Widening Project - Phase I is part of the city's Capital Improvement <br />Program (CIP). The improvements for this phase of the Agua Mansa Road Widening and Re- <br />alignment Project commence along Agua Mansa Road from the San Bernardino Flood Control <br />Rialto Channel west to Riverside Avenue. The scope of work for this project includes: street <br />realignment, construction of curb and gutter on the north and south side of Agua Mansa Road, <br />striping, signage, rubberized asphalt paving (6" thick aggregate base, 4" thick asphalt) and <br />installation of drainage structures. <br />ISSUES/ANALYSIS <br />On October 21, 2008, Council action authorized the award of a construction agreement to <br />Imperial Paving Inc. Company (contractor) for the Agua Mansa Road Widening Project — Phase <br />I in the amount of $1,299,704.00. The original term of the Agreement was 120 (one hundred and <br />twenty) calendar days. Since the award of the construction agreement the project was <br />temporarily put on hold and suffered significant delays due to the installation of several utilities <br />installing and/or relocating their infrastructure. <br />
