Thirty-five (35) feet of pipe was <br />replaced with PVC plastic sewer pipe. <br />Pursuant to CMC Section 3.08.130 (a) the City Manager is authorized to approve emergency <br />repairs up to $100,000, as long as reports are provided to the City Council for repairs in excess of <br />$25,000 and as long as the council determines, if necessary, there is a need to continue the <br />emergency action any longer. This report will not only provide such report, but seeks council <br />ratification of the contract for the work. The emergency work commenced on August 26, 2010 <br />and concluded on September 23, 2010, so there is no need for the emergency action to continue <br />any further. <br />There was no sanitary sewer over flow before or during the replacement process. Portable <br />pumps were used to divert the sewage to a different street. <br />As noted above, emergency sewer line replacement took Ross A. Guy & Son approximately 3 %2 <br />weeks to repair. The total cost for the emergency sewer line replacement at Coburn & Olive was <br />$85,664.43. <br />The current contract with Ross A. Guy & Son is for miscellaneous sewer line repairs on an "as <br />needed basis" in the amount of $25,000; therefore, staff is requesting to amend the contract to <br />add the additional funds to cover the emergency sewer line replacement on Coburn and Olive. <br />FISCAL IMPACTS <br />The Wastewater Department has sufficient funds in the Capital Improvement Sewer Line <br />Replacement Account #522-8200-8206-3890 to fund the expenditure. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />1.
