R-53. <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />COLTON, ENDORSING THE PROCUREMENT OF RECYCLED <br />PRODUCTS AND ESTABLISHING A PREFERENCE OF <br />RECYCLED PRODUCTS <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Colton, <br />I is committed to meet the mandates of AB939 as outlined in the <br />Sources Reduction and Recycling Element (SRRE) adopted by the <br />City Council on August 6, 1991, Resolution R-72-91. and <br />WHEREAS, the manufacture of products from recycled <br />materials benefits the environment by conserving energy and <br />valuable natural resources; and <br />WHEREAS, the "Total Waste Disposal Composition for the <br />City of Colton indicates that 36. it of the solid waste stream <br />is paper which can be recycled; . and <br />WHEREAS, recycling does not occur until there is an end <br />use for the remanufactured product; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Colton can hel <br />a cost competitive market for recycled ma <br />such products. <br />21 NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by <br />22 the City of Colton does hereby: <br />23 That the City of Colton shall purchai <br />24 use in its operations when recycled papei <br />25 competitive with virgin paper.
