JOHNSON % <br />Personnel Director <br />SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOLT) FOR <br />EMPLOYEES WORKING IN .TOB CLASSIFICATIONS IN THE ELECTRICAL <br />EMPLOYEES UNIT OF THE CITY OF COLTON REPRESENTED BY THE <br />INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF ELECTRICAL WORKERS (IBEW) LOCAL <br />47. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The last Electrical Workers Unit MOU expired on December 31, 1992. We have been in meet and confer with <br />IBEW representatives since December 16, 1992 and have tentatively agreed to a successor MOU which would <br />be in effect through December 31, 1993. The employees ratified the MOU at a meeting on July 13, 1993. <br />To become effective, the MOU must also be approved by Council. Below is a summary of the new terms of <br />the proposed MOU. <br />1. TERM - 1 year <br />2. SALARIES - no change <br />3. TERM LIFE INSURANCE - increase from $16,500 to $50,000 effective August 1, 1993. <br />4. LONG TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE - increase monthly base salary which maximum payments <br />of 66 2/3% of base salary are based on from $4500 to $6000 and change elimination period from 30 <br />days or the expiration of sick leave, whichever is later, to 30 days with no requirement to use all sick <br />leave before benefits begin, effective August 1, 1993. <br />5. CITY VEHICLE USE - no employee, other than those on authorized standby duty, may take a City <br />vehicle home if the distance is greater than 15 miles one way. <br />6. NEPOTISM - a new policy has been added including prohibiting the hiring or promoting of immediate <br />family members of the elected officials of the City of Colton. <br />7. INDUSTRIAL INJURY INSURANCE PREMIUMS - the City will pay the insurance premiums for <br />7 <br />
