employees on leave of absence without pay due to industrial injury without any limit. Currently the <br />City pays for a maximum of 6 months. <br />8. LIGHT DUTY POLICY - a new policy governing light duty assignments for employees injured on the <br />job was added. <br />9. BINDING ARBITRATION - grievances, suspensions in excess of three days, demotions and dismissals <br />of permanent employees shall be subject to binding arbitration as the final remedy in the appeals <br />process. <br />10. OPTICAL PLAN - provide equivalent coverage to General and Management/Confidential units. <br />11. BEREAVEMENT LEAVE - modify policy to allow a maximum of 80 hours per calendar year with <br />30 hours maximum per occurrence if death occurs in Southern California and 40 hours if outside of <br />Southern California. <br />12. LAYOFF POLICY - incorporate a new policy similar to those in General and Management/ <br />Confidential Units. <br />13. DENTAL PLAN - list current available dental plans and agree to meet and confer on alternate plans <br />should said plans change or cease to be available. <br />14. ACTING PAY - allow for each acting assignment of one hour or more rather than the current five <br />hours or more provision. <br />15. COMPENSATORY TIME - increase maximum accrual from 40 to 50 hours. <br />16. HIRING SALARY OF JOURNEY LEVEL WORKERS - those journey level workers who have <br />satisfactorily completed a recognized apprenticeship program for the position for which they are hired <br />shall start at Step D of the salary range and upon six months satisfactory performance shall advance to <br />Step E. The current MOU only provides such treatment for outside applicants hired as Power Line <br />Technicians. <br />17. MAINTENANCE OF MEMBERSHIP - provide equivalent language to Management/ <br />Confidential and General Units. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the attached resolution <br />classifications rep en d by the Electrical Workers' Unit. <br />Concur <br />Attachments: Res tion <br />Memorandum of Understanding <br />C..AGFNUA3.
