LINE CREW SUPERVISOR CITY OF COLTON <br />DEFINITION <br />Supervise the work of a crew of semi -skilled and skilled Powerline <br />Technicians performing a variety of construction and maintenance <br />tasks to the electrical transmission and distribution systems. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED <br />Receives general supervision from the Transmission/Distribution <br />Superintendent. <br />Exercises technical and functional supervision over Electric <br />Utility maintenance and -construction personnel.. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES - Duties may include, but are not limited to, <br />the following: <br />Supervise the work of a line crew in the construction, maintenance <br />and repair of overhead and underground electrical transmission and <br />distribution systems; plan, direct "tailboards", and assign tasks <br />to crew members. <br />Supervise the following: installation and repair of high and low <br />voltage wires and cables, transformers, poles, street light <br />fixtures and standards, and street light wiring; stringing of lines <br />overhead and underground; performance of underground cable splicing <br />and connections. <br />Assist in planning the installation and maintenance of all service - <br />lines, meters and other equipment required to supply power to <br />customers. <br />Supervise the installation, maintenance and repair of substation <br />equipment. <br />Supervise the operation of a variety of tools and equipment, <br />including digger derricks, aerial man lifts, backhoes, forklifts <br />and electrical test meters. <br />Supervise methods used by crews in the performance of their duties <br />to insure their safety and that protective devices and equipment <br />are used; maintain time and materials records and write reports of <br />work completed. <br />Determine need and requisition required supplies; make <br />recommendations regarding the purchase of new equipment or <br />replacement of existing equipment. <br />Coordinate work with other City departments. <br />Lead, train and evaluate subordinates. <br />May be required to work overtime in performing assigned duties. <br />-1- <br />
