i' <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING MAY 18, 1993 <br />`�orrora,o <br />1887 <br />...► s <br />e l Olt <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL DATE: MAY 11, 1993 <br />FROM: JOHN HUTTON <br />ACTING PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF SQUIRES LUMBER COMPANY'S ALLEY VACATION REQUEST <br />BACKGROUND <br />At the January 12, 1993 :Planning Commission meeting it was recommended the <br />conditional approval of the above referenced subject. Squires currently has <br />an approved encroachment permit with a single extension (expires 6/27/93). <br />Vacation approval is subject to the conditions of the planning commission, <br />which includes the retention ofeasement rights for utility purposes. <br />DISCUSSION <br />Attached is a copy of the encroachment/vacation application accompanied by a <br />letter submitted by Stan Paxson, copy of permit and extension, Plat/alley , <br />vacation plan and copy of the conditions of approval prepared by the planning <br />commission. <br />As early town records of Colton indicate, the alley was formed from a <br />dedication of early bordering property owners and the present owner of the <br />property desires the alley vacation due to security and safety` reasons. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />It recommended that the Council accept the alley vacation request, subject to <br />all planning approved conditions and declare "intention to vacate" and that <br />a'public hearing; on the declaration of the "intention to vacate" be scheduled <br />on the agenda for the next City Council meeting (June 1 , 1993) <br />Concurrence / <br />Report prepared by Michael Stephens, Engineering Technician II <br />D3:SQUIRESA <br />
