On the question of when the election shall be held, Elections Code
Section 11242 states as follows:
"The election shall be held not less than 88, nor more than
125 days, after the issuance of the order, and if a regular or
sis added.)
Respectfully, the following resolutions are submitted for your
consideration:
1. Resolution Calling Election for Tuesday, November 5, 1996 and
Requesting Consolidation with the General Municipal Election
set for November 5, 1996 and Requesting that Services be
Rendered.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
If the Special Municipal Election is consolidated with the November
5, 1996 election, it is estimated that the total cost of the
General Municipal Election will be $10,000. However, If the City
of Colton conducts the Special Municipal Election, the cost of that
election is estimated at $60,000, resulting in total Election cost
of approximately $70,000.
At the inception of fiscal year 1996-97, the Elections Account was
budgeted at $51,000. This figure was instantly reduced to $12,000
because there was a need to re-establish the Mail Processing
Expense Account. A budget adjustment will be necessary at mid -year
budget review.
RECOMMENDATION•
Staff recommends acceptance and filing of the Clerk's Certificate
of Sufficiency. Further, Staff respectfully recommends adoption of
the proposed resolutions.
Attach: (3)
2
K
