AGENDA REPORT <br />For the Council Meeting of July 2, 1996 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: NABAR ENRIQUE MARTINEZ, CITY MANAGER <br />FROM: GRACIE FERNANDEZ-HARMON, PERSONNEL DIF <br />SUBJECT: RATIFICATION OF EMPLOYEE APPOINTMENT TO THE <br />FULL-TIME POSITION OF PUBLIC UTILITIES INSPECTOR <br />IN THE WATER AND WASTEWATER DEPARTMENT <br />DATE: JUNE 24. 1996 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />There is one (1) vacant Public Utilities Inspector position in the Water and Wastewater <br />Department. This position had been eliminated during implementation of the FY 1994- <br />95 Fiscal Health Plan, and has been approved to be re-established in the FY 1996-97 <br />Budget. Attached is the job description for the classification; the salary range is $2604 <br />- $3163 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />A recruitment was not conducted because staff is recommending re -instatement of a <br />previous laid off employee. The candidate being recommended for appointment meets <br />the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description, and in <br />fact, previously held the position. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />This is an Enterprise Fund position and is funded in the 1996-97 fiscal year. The <br />position will be funded from the Administration - Salaries Account No. 21-6002-01 and <br />Benefits Account No. 21-6002-10. <br />Les'Evans, Interim Water and Wastewater Director <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council ratify the employee appointment to the full-time position <br />of Public Utilities Inspector, as recommended by the Interim Water and Wastewater <br />Director. <br />Report Prepared By: Lorraine June <br />ITEM 19 <br />
