PAVING PROJECTS <br />104-20505,104-21605 AND 104-21805 <br />DATE: OCTOBER 22, 1996 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />This is a combination of three Community Development Block Grant funded paving <br />projects (C.D.B.G. Projects 104-20505, 104-21605 and 104-21805). These projects <br />consists of pavement rehabilitation, construction of curb, gutter & sidewalk and <br />installation of street light standards on various streets located within Council <br />Districts 4 and 6. <br />The San Bernardino County Department of Economic and Community Development <br />(ECD) authorized the City on August 13, 1996 to proceed with the formal bid <br />advertisement On October 17, 1996 bids were formally opened by staff. There were <br />ten Bid Proposals submitted to the City. <br />SUMMARY: <br />The following Bids (ranked in order of Bid amounts) were submitted: <br />• Matich Corporation $493,073.75 <br />• Holland -Lowe Construction <br />$534,882.50 <br />• Keeney & Son, Inc. <br />$555,649.26 <br />• Laird Construction <br />$564,411.70 <br />• All American Asphalt <br />$569,890.10 <br />• Kalban, Inc. <br />$576,746.95 <br />• Hillcrest Construction <br />$578,191.35 <br />• West Coast Construction <br />$592,856.20 <br />• Sean Malek, Engineering & Const. <br />$640,132.90 <br />• Wyatt Construction <br />$711,432.30 <br />The apparent low bidder is Matich Corporation of Colton in the amount of <br />$ 493,073.75. The bid package has been reviewed by staff and found to be complete <br />and in compliance with the bidder's instructions section of the project specifications. <br />ITEM NO. 13 <br />
