DISCUSSION:
A Street Closure has been requested for 5 consecutive working days for each of the streets noted
above. The Closures have also been requested for 24 hours a day. A Traffic Control & Detour Plan
has been submitted for each of the streets. It is the responsibility of the Contractor &/or the RR to
notify the surrounding residents and business of the exact days of the closure of each street. In
addition, the Contractor is also responsible for implementing, monitoring and maintaining the Traffic
Control and the Detours for as long as each Street is closed.
The Street Closure for Valley Boulevard, which has the potential of being the worst impact on the
ongoing & everyday traffic, will be closed between the east and west boundaries at the edge of the RR
right-of-way for a period of 5 consecutive work days. The original closure date requested has been
rescheduled to Mid -January to avoid any impaction to the December holiday traffic.
Public works has specified that throughout the closure of Valley Boulevard adequate ingress/egress
access to all of the businesses and homeowners along Valley Boulevard shall be maintained so that
none of the local businesses along Valley Boulevard around the area of the proposed Road Closure be
negatively impacted by said proposed Road Closure.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
None
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT / ^\
None
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends, and seeks Council's concurance, that the 5 -day, 24-hour Street Closures listed
below be approved as conditioned by Public Works.
"E" Street Pennsylvania Ave to 7th St
"H" Street Pennsylvania Ave to 7th St
Valley Blvd Pennsylvania Ave to 7th St
CITY MANAGER'S CONCURRENCE:
prep by dst/10.96
November 11,12,13,14 & 15, 1996.
November 18,19,20,21 & 22, 1996
Mid -January 1997 to preclude interruption
of vehicular traffic during the holidays.
Page 2 of Item
