CITY OF COLTON <br />Power Line Technician/Apprentice <br />Page 3 <br />Ability to: <br />Learn to install, service and maintain overhead and <br />underground electrical lines and distribution system <br />equipment. <br />Learn to climb poles and perform work on the pole under all <br />weather conditions. <br />Understand and follow oral and written directions. <br />Establish and maintain effective working relationships with <br />those contacted in the performance of required duties. <br />Experience and Training: <br />Any combination of experience and training that would likely <br />provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. <br />A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would <br />be: <br />Experience: <br />One year of experience in electrical maintenance and <br />repair work comparable to a Line Mechanic Helper in the <br />City of Colton. <br />Training: <br />Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade <br />supplemented by specialized training as a groundman in <br />electrical utility work. <br />License or Certificate: <br />Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid <br />California driver's license. <br />Power Line Technician <br />Must possess all the above qualifications for the Power Line <br />Apprentice. Must have: <br />Knowledge of: <br />Journey level knowledge of the methods, materials, and <br />techniques of the line mechanic trade. <br />Installation, operation, and maintenance of overhead and <br />underground electrical lines and distribution system !r1\ <br />equipment. <br />State of California Electrical Safety Orders and Public <br />Utility Commission General Orders No. 95 and No. 128. <br />
